AboutThe Food Teacher™ was established by award-winning Registered Nutritional Therapist and author Katharine Tate.

Katharine has worked as a teacher and education consultant in Primary and Secondary schools for over 20 years. She combines her unique education and nutrition expertise to offer schools, organisations and families advice, education programmes, practical workshops, and individual/family clinical consultations.

Katharine runs a busy face-to-face/virtual clinic working to identify the root cause of clients signs and symptoms and supporting them to find better balance and work towards achieving optimal health. Nutritional Therapy is particularly effective for chronic conditions such as depression, skin conditions, (such as eczema and psoriasis), weight management, type 2 diabetes, digestion problems, (including inflammatory bowel disease and IBS), arthritic pain, fatigue, osteoporosis, thyroid problems, sex hormonal imbalances, (including PCOS, PMS, acne, fibroids and endometriosis). Katharine was also the first Registered Nutritional Therapist to complete post graduate training to be qualified to work with clients with cancer is Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.

She is registered with BANT and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council, which can include cover from BUPA, Aviva, Westfield Health, Health Shield, WPA, Cigna (provider number: 223869), Aetna International and AXA, but please do check with your insurers for clarity.

Katharine has recorded a show on UK Health Radio where she promotes the importance of food to improve health and wellbeing. These can be accessed on demand and includes some insightful interviews with inspirational health practitioners such as Dr. Carrie Jones, Dr. Tom O’Bryan, Professor Tim Spector, Maryon Stewart, Dr. Sarah Myhill, Dr. Marilyn Glenville and Patrick Holford.

The Food Teacher™ is incredibly passionate about the impact of nutritious food for all individuals especially growing children and families. The team has extensive experience working with both Primary and Secondary schools offering advisory support, developing curriculum content, schemes of work, assessment, policy development, mentoring staff and model and team teaching. The Young Chef Awards for schools, children and families is hugely successful with uptake across the UK and Ireland. The team also work with restaurants and corporates developing links with schools and creating content.

Katharine has published several books. These include 2 school focused books ‘No Kitchen Cookery for Primary Schools’ (UK winner in the ‘Best Cookbook for Professionals’ category of the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards) and ‘Now We’re Cooking’  (‘Best in the World’ Special Award at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards) in collaboration with The Food Teacher™ colleague Marie Reynolds and Tim Baker from ‘Charlton Manor Primary’ which includes a foreword from ‘Jamie Oliver’. She has also published ‘Heat-Free and Healthy’ , which illustrates how adults and/or children can create simple, nutritious food without using heat and a series of ‘Mini-Books’ which illustrate how small, simple changes can have a big impact on your health.

Katharine and her team are also regular speakers at corporate health events, education seminars, community events and food festivals around the UK.
