Chocolate & Date Brownies

I use dates and banana to sweeten these delicious chocolate brownies and opt for gluten free flour. They are a real treat and work brilliantly for birthday parties or celebrations.

Prep time: 15 minutes Cook time: 30 minutes Serves: 12


  1. Put dates in a saucepan, add boiling water to just cover, then use a blender/hand blender to puree.
  2. Mix in and then blend together the butter, egg, banana & vanilla.
  3. Melt the chocolate and add to the mix.
  4. Using a metal spoon fold in the flour & baking powder.
  5. Pour the mix into a tin (approx. 22cm x 22cm) lined with parchment paper.
  6. Bake in the oven at 180˚C / 350˚F / Gas Mark 4 for 30 minutes.
  7. Once cool add melted chocolate to top and sprinkle with chopped walnuts/flaked almonds.
